A rewiew of psychological endurance between elite sportsman and sedantary individuals during the COVID 19 pandemic period

In January 2020, China officially declared the World Health Organization that a contagious strain of influenza began to spread in their country. This new type of influenza started to be seen in different countries of the world in a short time. The World Health Organization announced the outbreak as Pandemic. Under the conditions of those days, the only way to protect from this virus was to isolate people from each other. Governments have taken various measures to protect their citizens from this virus. The most important of the measures was curfews. This new period can be said to cause a still life and various traumas in individuals. This study examines the resilience of elite sports and sedentary individuals living in Ankara during the pandemic period. 664 men and 742 women living in Ankara participated in the research. Personal Information form and Psychological resilience scale were used as data collection tools in the study. The normality distribution was tested by applying the kurtosis and skewness test to the data. T-test and ANOVA tests of the data were performed and multiple comparisons (Post-HocTukey) and correlation analysis were used. At the end of the research, the psychological resilience of the individuals who do sports at the elite level was significantly higher than the sedentary individuals. Among all the participants, men in the gender variable and psychological resilience in the education variable were positive in those with a high level of education. No significant difference was found in terms of marital status, having Covid-19 disease and income levels. It can be said that the results of this study are important in terms of being prepared for a similar event that may be experienced. As a result of the research, the psychological resilience of the individuals who do sports at the elite level was significantly higher than the sedentary individuals.
