Abstract (EN)
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, working from home was defined as one of the flexible working methods. However, large groups of employees switched to working from home in a very short time in order to prevent the spread of the disease and to maintain the economy during the pandemic period. After providing a conceptual explanation for the way of working, in which the meaning has changed with the pandemic, this study reveals the economic effects of working from home, which was tested by large groups of workers for the first time under the influence of the pandemic. With the survey applied to HR employees, the data of the companies working from home during the COVID-19 period is examined, and the effect of the main characteristics of the companies (the number of employees, the company sector and the city where the company headquarters are located) on the decision to future work from home situation is tried to be estimated through the analysis. In the empirical analysis, being in industrial, construction, and energy sectors reduces the expectation of work from home after COVID-19 by 78.9%, and similarly working in tourism, food and beverage, and administrative sectors reduces by it 78.1%. This reduction rate is 58.3% for small-scale companies, 62.5% for medium-sized companies, and 58% for companies based in small cities.
