Abstract (EN)

Covid-19 is a highly contagious respiratory disease. On March 11, 2020, covid-19 was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization. The Covid-19 pandemic has deeply affected many sectors, but its effects on food retail companies are much lighter. This study has been planned to illuminate this affect. For this purpose, food retail companies were included in the study. In calculation of risk premiums, risk premium comparison was made by using Beta coefficients and implied risk premium calculation methods. Bim, Bizim Toptan Satış Mağazaları, Migros, Şok and Carrefoursa companies, which are traded on the stock exchange and whose data can be accessed, were included in the study. 30-week data was used by presuming the end of the 30 November as 2020 pre-covid-19 period and the 13 January as 2021 post-covid-19 period of these companies. Beta coefficients and implied risk premiums were calculated be using these data. The variation between pre- and post-Covid-19 values was examined using the sign test. No statistically significant change was observed in the beta coefficients and implied equity risk premiums of food retail companies before and after covid-19.
