Abstract (EN)
The Covid-19 epidemic, which has affected the whole world since the first months of 2020, has deeply affected the insurance industry in Turkey as well as in other countries since March 2020, and the industry has been greatly affected by this suddenly developing global epidemic. In this study titled "The Effects of the Covid-19 Epidemic on the Health Insurance Sector in Turkey" how the Turkish insurance sector, which plays an important role both in keeping the economic and social balances together and in the continuity of economic stabilization was affected by this extraordinary epidemic situation will be examined. In the first part of the study, the introduction and importance of the subject will be stated, and in the second part, the origin of the concept of insurance, its definition, the purpose and historical development of insurance will be explained. In the third chapter, the definition of the insurance contract, its elements and the principles that dominate the insurance contract will be examined. In the fourth chapter, after briefly mentioning the types of insurance in general, the health insurance, which is the subject of the study, will be mentioned and brief information about the sub-branches of health insurance will be given. In the fifth chapter, the general outlines of the Covid-19 epidemic and the development of the epidemic will be discussed. After explaining all these issues, the number of policies/collaterals issued in the field of health insurance and its sub-branches will be examined, based on the data of the period before the Covid-19 epidemic (2019) and the period after (2020 and 2021). Under the title of the conclusion of the study, evaluations will be made about the functioning and general outlook in the Turkish health insurance sector before and after the Covid-19 epidemic, and then some suggestions will be presented for the development of the sector. In summary, this study aims to determine the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic on the Turkish health insurance sector and then to indicate the measures that can be taken in the sectoral sense for the development of the Turkish health insurance sector and minimizing the effects of the epidemic.
