Sea and beach recreation activities by determining the marine ecological quality and ecological capacity capacity in the Cirali bay

Pollution occurs in the sea and beach areas in Cirali Bay of Kemer District located within the boundaries of Beydaglari Coastal (Olympos) National Park in Antalya Province because of recreational activities carried out by people at sea and on land along the seashore. In this context, a study was conducted and samples were collected seasonally from 9 determined stations and 1 reference station for the purpose of confirming the pollution which can pose a risk to the ecological situation in Cirali Bay, and the ecological quality status of the region was determined by using apparatuses of bearing capacity. Physico-chemical parameters (pH-temperature-dissolved oxygen-dissolved oxygen saturation-salinity-conductivity) were measured in the samples taken from the stations; chemical (NOx-PO4-3-TP, chlorophyll-a, oil-grease) and microbiological analyzes (Escherichia coli, intestinal enterekok) were made and also AKM and BOD5 analyzes were performed. Light transmittance was measured by using a secchi disc. TRIX and ECO values were calculated by the data obtained and so, the risk of eutrophication in the region was defined. The ecological situation was determined by the apparatuses of carrying capacity. As a result of the observations and calculations made, it has been confirmed that the density of solid waste and sanitary problems and erosion amount increased especially in the beachside by means of apparatuses of ecological carryring capacity, and flora and fauna were destroyed, and the wetlands decreased, and because of seawater quality exchange, the water status degressed from oligotrophic state to mesotrophic state and thus, extinction of aquatic life became inavoidable. In this study first data were provided to determine the ecological quality status of Cirali Bay and apparatuses of ecological carrying capacity were used for the first time.
