Abstract (EN)

Layered double hydroxides are a kind of anionic clays that have unique chemical and physical properties. The objective of this work was to investigate the impact of replacing magnesium with transition metals in Mg3-xMx/Al1 (M= Ni, Cu) (LDHs). A recently developed sol-gel synthesis process has been used for the production of the aforementioned materials. The experimental findings suggested that the introduction of varying quantities of Ni and Cu into the sol-gel-derived (LDHs) did not result in the destruction of their layered structure. The sol-gel method of processing included the utilisation of metal nitrates, namely Mg(NO3)2·6H2O, Al(NO3)3·9H2O, Ni(NO3)2·6H2O, and Cu(NO3)2·3H2O, which were dissolved in deionized water as the initial substances. Additionally, citric acid monohydrate and ethylene glycol were used as complicating agents. The mixed metal oxides (MMOs) were acquired by thermal processing of precursor gels at a temperature of 650 °C, followed by their subsequent rebuilding in water to produce the LDHs. The products of synthesised were characterised by X-ray (XRD) analysis and FT-IR: Perkin Elmer's FT-IR spectrophotometer, The study revealed that the synthesis of Mg3-xMx/Al1 (M= Ni, Cu) LDH from sol-gel–derived powders is extremely dependent by the concentration and kind of transition metal present. The sol-gel synthesis method suggested for LDHs has many advantages, including its straight forwardness, capacity to produce highly homogeneous and well-crystallized end products, efficacy, cost efficiency, and adaptability to various systems.
