Refik Şevket İnce in politics and law life of republic period

Bringing to light of lives of persons taking on various duties for the state to be established and participating in Turkish war of independence and witnessing foundation of Republic of Turkey is very important for near period Turkish history researches. It is possible to obtain hints about Ottoman Empire in these researches since these persons taking role in the foundation of new state system and republic regime have Ottoman history, too. Within this scope, Refik Şevket İnce being born in the geography of Ottoman Empire and being brought up with Ottoman education took on very important tasks during National Struggle. He participated in the first Assembly as a deputy and served as minister. He played the leading role in some of the important decisions made at the Assembly founding Republic of Turkey and tried hard for the future of the nation at the Assembly.İnce being devoted his party but criticizing his party if necessary and adopting ?intraparty opposition? attitude during single party period was among the first in the ranking of most?speaking deputies at the platform in the period of Assembly. Therefore, he expressed opinions about many subjects at the Assembly where decisions about country were made; he was not ?civil servant deputy? with his own word.He undertook an important duty in development of Turkish Law, institutionalization of works in legal field and performed the presidency of the institution showing effort in establishment of Turkish Law Institution today.He was among the founders o Democratic Party arising as a new party in Turkey living with single?party for a long time and operated in the way of this party towards coming to power. He held ministry offices in the first two cabinets that were established by Adnan Menderes being the only president that was condemned to death of Repuclic of Turkey. He did not hesitate to oppose against things that went wrong in party and institutions he was affiliated to in his political life. Refik Şevket appearing as courageous politician?jurist adopted working hard for his nation as principle. In this context, events in the recent past of Turkey are dealt in this study aiming to reveal his activities and contributions in Turkish political and legal field.
