The theme of road, passenger and journey in Republic Period Turkish poetry

The Republican years are among the periods in which various transformations, political and social reforms in Turkish Literature also affected our literature. This process, which was initiated under the leadership of Atatürk, has been the flare of a new era. In this new process, different literary themes took place in our literature in various ways. The theme of Road, Passenger, Journey is also one of the most precious themes in the Turkish poetry of the Republican Period. The years of the Republic offer a rich content in which various understandings are seen in Turkish Literature. In the Republican period, the idea that a break from our traditional literature started with elements such as modernization, isolation and secularization, which gained importance with the westernization that has continued since the Tanzimat years, is dominant. However, with the atmosphere brought about by loneliness, a longing for a way or a journey that is formed in the individual has begun to prevail in our literature from place to place. From this point of view, the motif of road, passenger and journey, which we encounter from time to time in traditional literature, has started to take place in Turkish poetry in the Republican period. The content of our thesis covers the Turkish poetry of the Republican Period. Our aim is to examine the reflection of the concept of road, passenger and journey in our poetry, based on the poets of the period. Many of the poets who wrote during the Republican period wrote poems about the road and journey. On the other hand, the fact that this theme is currently a rare case in the literature has a valuable place in terms of revealing the importance of our thesis. The method of our thesis study was determined as scanning, compilation and review. First of all, the poems dealing with this theme belonging to the period were scanned and compiled. It has been determined that poets from different socio-cultural environments include the concept of road, passenger and journey in their poems. As a result, a comprehensive document has emerged. Since the content of the concepts is comprehensive, the content of the thesis is limited by including only some of the poets who have chosen the concept of road, passenger and journey in their poems. In order to reveal an original and qualified scientific work in our thesis study, qualified samples are included so that our study does not show too much clutter in scope. Care was taken to include the poems that best reflect the content of the thesis. The fact that they included the concept of road, passenger and journey in their works in an original way, that they were the pioneers of the period and that the selected poets showed a diversity reflecting the spirit of the period were determined as the basic criteria for these poets to be included in our scientific study. Our scientific work consists of three main parts. In the first part of the thesis, "An Overview of Poetry" is done. In the second part of the thesis, "Thematic Elements" are discussed separately. In the third part of the thesis, "Road, Passenger, Journey Poems in Turkish Poetry in the Republican Period" were examined. With this study, it is aimed that the concept of Road, Passenger, Journey in the Turkish Poetry of the Republican Period and the horizons these themes have opened in our poetry will fill an important gap in the literature.
