Syrians in Mardin and it`s surroundings during the period of republic

SUMMARYThe Syrians are one of the first communities accepting Christianity whenChristianity was born. They played a significant role in the early history ofChristianity by spreading Christianity belief and enhanching it.The history of the birth and development of the Syriac Church has been amatter of various discussions and arguments. Hence it is an important issue tostudy. Due to the geography they have been affected by many different culturesand influenced them as well. They contributed social, cultural, political,educational and religious life of the ottomans when they live in harmony. Butduring the WWI, under the influence of some external forces, they faced immensesuffering and mass emigration to different parts of the world and longed for thepeaceful days. In The Turkish Republic, they reached much more peacefulsituations. However they left Turkey due to the economical reasons in 1940?s andfor political and social conditions in 1980?s.Today; they, like every Turkish citizen, can freely perform the religiousactivities and build their foundations and enjoy the constitutional rights.In this work, we studied Mardin and its surrounding in the perspective ofthe Syrians parallel to the historical developments.
