Abstract (EN)

In this research, the changes in the terms used in the Turkish economic system from the declaration of the Republic to the present day have been examined. The study identifies the economic terms produced or reintroduced into circulation through the policies of "Öz Türkçeleşme" (Turkification) and presents them with graphs. Considering the limited linguistic studies on economic terms, the changes in these terms can be tracked over the years. The research utilizes documents from economic congresses published in the early years of the Republic, newspapers, Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey reports, and the Turkish Language Institution's Turkish dictionaries as sources. In addition, thematic economic dictionaries have been examined. Words used in the field of economics, based on the order of publication of printed dictionaries, and their current usage status have been studied using real-time linguistics methods. The outcome of this study unveils the changing economic terms in the one-hundred-year process of the Republic of Turkey and is presented in an organized manner with graphs, aiming to serve as a resource for future studies in economics, linguistics, or related fields.
