Family institution in Pre-Republic Turkish stories

For those who want to examine the structure of a society the family is a unique medium. For this reason, many researchers have carried out family studies by referring to both literary works and other texts. This thesis is one of these studies. The human being, the main factor of the literary work, becomes the element of a family and is accepted as a natural member of the society. At this point, the paths of literature and sociology, which deal with the family and society as a subject, intersect. For this reason, in this thesis study; the information and documents of both fields are used. In Turkish literature, which has a substantial past, the family has been used as a subject in many literary genres from past to present. The story has an important place among the narrative types that process the family. The period covered by this thesis study (1870-1923) is a period when the first examples of modern Turkish storytelling were given and then competent examples were given, and also change in the Turkish people, especially the change in the family, was clearly observed. In the first part of this thesis, which aims to reveal the situation of the Turkish family in that period and the change in the Turkish family based on the stories written in the Pre-Republic period, the story-type Turkish storytelling has been assimilated from various sources, especially the basic books of the field, and has been transferred to thesis. In the second part of the thesis, the stories written by Turkish writers in the Pre-Republic period were read and recorded by taking into account the various subtitles determined for the family theme, and the results based on various determination were drawn.
