Abstract (EN)

This study aims to analyze the place of economy related subjects in social studies curricula that have gone through changes beginning from the establishment of the Republic of Turkey to the present. In this scope, primary school curricula of 1924, 1926, 1930, 1936, 1948, 1962, 1968, 1971 and secondary school curricula of 1931-1932, 1938, 1949, 1962 in the Republic period as well as primary education social studies curricula of 1995, 1998, 2005 and 2018 were examined. In the curricula implemented before 1968, which included economy related subjects, the followings were addressed: courses, course objectives, course subjects, the reflection of subjects on the textbooks and the distribution of courses. While after 1968, the subjects included were Social Studies Curriculum, objectives, units, subjects and contents. Since the research subject has a historical perspective, the historical method included in the document analysis was used. Documents (Social Studies Curricula implemented since 1924) accessed for the study were analyzed based on descriptive analysis method. Considering the results of the research in general, it is possible to say that there have been many disciplines in the content of social studies curricula since the early years of the Republic, although it is accepted that the 2005 Social Studies Curriculum introduced a multidisciplinary structure. One of these social studies disciplines is Economy. When the curricula of history, geography, life science, civics (citizenship knowledge) courses of Social Studies Curriculum as well as the primary school, secondary school, primary education Social Studies Curriculum from the Republic period to the present day are examined, it is seen that subjects and concepts related to "Economy" were included in these courses and curricula. It was concluded that the content reflected in the textbooks of the curricula implemented from 1924 to 2018 is close to each other even though the distribution of the units and their subjects changed in the process. Keywords: Social Studies Teaching, Curriculum, Economy
