Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the 6-week Tabata training model on the performance of high trained mountain bike athletes. Twenty mountain bike athletes with a mean age of 15.45 ± 1.15 years participated in the study. Participants were randomly divided into two groups. The traditional training group (GAG) consisted of 9 people and they had applied the traditional training program for 6 weeks. The Tabata training group (TAG) consists of 10 people and, unlike GAG, performed Tabata interval training on three days of the traditional training program. The control group performed the traditional training program 7 days a week. Tabata training group, on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, applied the traditional training program used by the control group. They practiced the training program on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The participants were subjected to maximal ramp test and 30 seconds anaerobic power test, 40 km time trial cycling test, leg strength test and anthropometric measurements on wattbike bicycle ergometer as the first and last test. According to the first and last test results, the peak power, aerobic power, average power, leg strength and 40 km time test values of the Tabata Training Model athletes developed more than the Traditional Training Group. This difference was statistically significant in favor of Tabata Training Group (P <0.05). As a result, it was seen that the Tabata Interval Model, which includes 6-week Tabata interval trainings applied to high-level mountain cyclists, increased the performance more than traditional training. In light of these results, it can be said that the Tabata Training Model is an effective training model that can be used to improve performance in high-level mountain bikers.
