Abstract (EN)
Davulalan Pluton is located in the north-eastern part of the Central Anatolian Crystalline Complex and consists of syenite, nepheline syenite and monzonite. In addition, nepheline syenites contain locally carbonate veins. This pluton cuts the Paleozoic-aged Akdağ Metamorphics, consisting of marble, schist and quartzite, and is unconformably overlain by Pliocene-aged sandstones. The study presented here reports preliminary data such as petrography, whole rock geochemistry, and zircon U-Pb age data for a better understanding of its petrological evolution of pluton and geotectonic environment. Syenite, nepheline syenite and monzonite identified as a result of petrographic observations present geochemically alkaline characteristics and exhibit similar properties with those from post-collision granitoids. Carbonate veins identified in nepheline syenites are characterized by their low rare earth elements (<100 ppm) and Sr (<831 ppm) contents. The primitive mantle and chondrite normalized geochemical patterns of carbonate veins appear to be compatible with sedimentary carbonates rather than mantle-derived carbonatites. Zircon U-Pb dating analyses carried out on syenite and nepheline syenite samples yielded ages of 66 ± 0.60 My and 65 ± 0.60 My, respectively, indicating that both rock types were formed in the Late Cretaceous-Early Paleocene period. The overall analytical data reported here indicates that the Davulalan Pluton was formed in the post-collision tectonic environment during the Late Cretaceous-Early Paleocene period.
