Abstract (EN)

Activities gaining momentum between countries due to increasing transportation, trade, travel and tourism around the world have a significant share in the transportation of foreign invasive species, which cause quality and quantity losses in plants and plant products, to countries and continents outside their habitats. Introduction of alien invasive species into a new area; On the environmental dimension, due to the loss of biodiversity, on the economic dimension, due to both the qualitative and quantitative losses in the product and the costs of fighting to control pests, and on the economic dimension, due to the effects on international trade, food security, water supply, regional stability, poverty and migration It causes problems at the political level. One of the most important of these pests, the citrus long horn beetle (TUB) (Anoplophora chinensis), is a member of the genus Anoplophora, consisting of 36 species of long horn beetles, native to the temperate and tropical regions of Asia. According to the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization, Anoplophora chinensis is a polyphagous pest species with 25 main host species and 180 host species, the vast majority of which are broad-leaved, and is one of the species that should be combated with priority. The most important factor in pest control cryptic pests such as TUB is detecting the pest in the early stages. Although the methods used in the early detection of CLB are based on visual inspection, detector dogs are also used to detect the presence of CLB in the wood. The use of detection dogs has yielded positive results in Austria, France, Italy and Germany. The study aimed to investigate the use of detector dogs in detecting the quarantine pest Anoplophora chinensis. For detector dog training, larvae were collected from contaminated areas in Sakarya and transferred to Ankara Dog College, where detector dog training was carried out. A total of 10 weeks of training was carried out, consisting of 6 weeks of identification and 4 weeks of discrimination stages. At the end of the training; "Searching for Anoplophora chinensis Larvae Found in Petri Dishes", "Searching for A.chinensis Larvae Transferred When the Larva Was Collected and Found in Material Contaminated with A.chinensis", "Searching for A.chinensis Larvae Transferred During Test Studies and Found in Contaminated Material with A.chinensis" and "Searching of A.chinensis Larvae Covered with Soil and Found in A.chinensis and Contaminated Materials During Testing" tests were carried out. When the sensitivity and specificity results determined as a result of testing studies are evaluated, the average sensitivity level is; It was found to be 94% in petri dishes, 95% in habitat logs, 84.00% in logs transferred at the time of testing, and 79% in logs transferred on the day of testing and covered with soil. Average specificity levels are; It was found to be 99.33% in petri dishes, 99.44% in habitat logs, 98.22% in logs transferred at the time of testing, and 97.67% in logs transferred on the day of testing and covered with soil. When the data obtained was evaluated, it was concluded that the use of detector dogs is a promising method for the detection of quarantine pests.
