Abstract (EN)

DOUBLE BETA DECAY OF DEFORMED NUCLEI Hasan BİRCAN Physics Department, M. S. Thesis, 2002 Thesis Supervisor: Asist. Prof. Cevat SELAM Co Adviser: Assoc. Prof. Atalay KÜÇÜKBURSA SUMMARY In this work, the influence of collective effects associated with spin-spin dependent modes of the charge-exchange has been investigated. Also, the pair interaction forces of nucleöns within the nucleus are taken into account in our study. All calculations have been done with the QRPA in the Saxon-Woods potential base for both spherical and deformed nuclei. The collective effects associated with spin-spin dependent modes of charge-exchange have been observed to influence the power function S~. That is because, S "and S* power functions go away from the each other. As a result, the values of overlop decrease. Because of density of excitation 1+ levels at the deformation situation to spherical situation is greater ~10 times, decrease of power function S~ in spectroscopic area is much violent with effects of the change-exchange spin-spin forces. As it is seen from the results, the nuclei matrix elements that is calculated by considering the situations of deformation nucleus is approximately 2-4 times smaller than the suitable spherical nuclei. In spite of this reduction, the theoretic values of the nuclei matrix elements that are calculated for the investigated nuclei are 2-8 times greater than the suitable experimental values.
