Özet (EN)

SUMMARY: Recently, tuberculosis accompanies HIV infections and causes epidemics, Meanwhile, multiple drug resistance is increasing. World Health Organization has reported that measures have to be taken to restrain the disease. For this purpose, epidemiologic studies utilising different methods are being done. One of these methods is SDS-PAGE which was used in this study. This method has been employed in typing mycobacteriaceae. The aim of this sudy was to separate the whole cell proteins of 111 M. tuberculosis strains by electrophoresis and investigate the correlation between the protein band patterns both with antibiotic susceptibility patterns and geographic distributions of the strains. Samples were run by discontinious electrophoresis method, and protein bands were analysed by densitometer following silver staining. No correlation was found between protein band patterns both with antibiotic susceptibility patterns geographic distribution of the strains. The differences of antibiotic susceptibility patterns between geographic regions were analysed by using ki-square test. A significant difference of isoniasid, rifampicine, isoniasid+rifampicine was observed among geographical regions. (p<0.05) This was because of Black Sea and Aegean Regions. These were the most resistant regions. 56
