Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this thesis is to make heat transfer analysis and optimization ofthree different types of fins according to specified surrounding conditions by the aim ofcomputer which is most used in heat exchangers for using energy economically anddesigning at optimal dimensions.One-dimensional analysis of longitudinal and radial fins of rectangular profileand cylindrical spine have done analytically according to tree different boundaryconditions and equations of temperature distribution, heat dissipation, efficiency andeffectiveness of fins were obtained and then the equations of optimum fin dimensionswere determined analytically and transferred to computer program for desired heatdissipation of fin at specified surroundings that will minimize it?s mass.It was found that thermal conductivity has not an influence to determineoptimum fin height of longitudinal and radial fins of rectangular profile for a given heatdissipation at constant surrounding conditions. But it has been shown that heat transfercoefficient has an effect of inverse proportional. Although, in the cylindrical spineoptimization, the great amount of effects of thermal conductivity and heat transfercoefficient have been established into determination of optimum spine height anddiameter. However, further reduction in volume is necessary; more spines must be usedinstead of a single cylindrical spine which has equivalent heat dissipation.Fins which are made of high thermal conductivity materials are always allowedto manufacturing of heat exchanger device and equipments with least material that willhave small dimensions.KEYWORDS: Fin performance factor, corrected fin height, temperature distribution, heat dissipation, fin efficiency, fin effectiveness, optimization, optimumfin thickness, optimum fin height.
