Demans Hastalarında Kefir Tüketiminin Hatırlama ve Kayıt Hafızası Üzerine Etkileri

This study consists of 30 individuals; patient group with 15 individuals that have Alzheimer type dementia diagnosis and control group with 15 individuals that have no dementia diagnosis in age range between 65-95. The individuals who have chronic diseases except for bed bound, intolerance against kefir consumption and hypertension have been excluded from the study. Patient and control group have been consumed kefir 200 ml/day for 3 months and their mental test parameters have been compared with Mini Mental Test (MMT) before and after the kefir consumption and Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA), food consumption records and anthropometric measurements of the participants have been determined at the beginning of the study. There is an increase in mental test, record memory, attention and calculation and direction point for the individuals of the patient and control groups after the kefir consumption compared to before kefir consumption and there found a decrease in the remembering and language points in comparison to before kefir consumption (p>0.05). According to the MNA test point average, it is observed that 6.7 % of the individuals of the control group and 40 % of the patient group individuals have malnutrition risk and women have higher malnutrition risks in comparison to men. İndividuals who have malnutrition risk have higher insufficient energy consumption according to the RDA in comparison to the individuals with good nutrition status (p>0.05). This work resulted in the consumption of kefir made where statistically positive effects on mental capacity to be held in this area but can not reach firm conclusions because it was determined that more work is needed.
