Abstract (EN)

Although, intermetallic materials amongst high-tech materials are being investigate with interest, the expansion of the application areas are also of great importance. Such materials can be formed by alloying with at least two different metals. During the formation of the compound, the bond and crystal structures change and materials with different properties are obtained, however, their plastic deformation capacity is weak and therefore the formability isalmost impossible. In this study, the types of iron aluminide, which is one of the most investigated intermetallics, i.e. Fe3Al, FeAl FeAl3 compounds were selected in order to determine the best for coating. In order to improve their high temperature properties, secondary ceramic phase additions of TiC and TiB2 were also made during production. Using reverse vacuum method, powder mixture melted by TIG method was drawn into copper mold and a specimen of circular geometry was also obtained. In order to investigate the effect of heat treatment on the shape and distribution of second phase particles and grain size of matrix, a 1000 °C heat treatment was carried out for 1, 2 and 4 hrs. Exemplary specimens were used to coat the surface of copper, a soft material, by using ESD (electro Spark Deposiiton) coating method.
