Özet (EN)

In blast furnaces, iron ore is reduced with carbon. The dust that comes out during the process is kept in the gas washing system, and the dust collected in the settling basins are called "blast furnace sludge". Blast furnace sludge, which is the natural output of production processes, cannot be evaluated in integrated iron and steel processes due to the high sulfur and zinc they contain. While it cannot be used in steel production due to its sulfur content of 0.1-0.5%, its use in sinter or blast furnace processes is limited due to its zinc content above 1%. The way to take advantage of the high carbon content in blast furnace sludge is to size the sludge by removing impurities. Within the scope of this thesis, flotation experiments were carried out to recover the carbon values of approximately 18-23% in the blast furnace sludge. Elemental analysis of carbon The determination of the surface morphology and elemental composition of carbon with the LECO CHN 628 device was also determined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In this study, optimizations of experimental parameters such as gas oil amount, turnover rate, foaming agent, flotation and solid-liquid ratio, which affect the flotation efficiency, were made. as a result of the optimizations, the average carbon yield for carbon was calculated as 84-100% under the most suitable flotation conditions. As the output of the study, it is aimed to show the usability of carbon-rich products obtained as a result of the laboratory-scale flotation process as input material in suitable processes
