Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, Reflection of the Democratic Party's coming to power in Erzurum, the political events that occurred in Erzurum (according to Erzurum Newspaper) during the transition to the multi-party system examined. The political turmoil experienced in Turkey in the period from the proclamation of the Republic until 1950 caused a reaction to the CHP power in its social life. DP, that founded with the transition to a multi-party system created a danger towards CHP. By the organization of the DP and its redirection towards the eastern provinces, it became the CHP's rival and there was a struggle for power between two parties. One of these provinces was Erzurum. There were many developments in the political, social and economic life in Erzurum when DP came to power in Erzurum. These developments in Erzurum reflected in the media too. The Erzurum newspaper which published after the elections held in 1950, discussed how DP came to power reflected the political and social life in Erzurum.
