A sociological investigation on substances depending on the supervised freeze system: A case of Istanbul Anatolia

This study is about individuals who use drugs with probation decision. The aim of this study was to examine the social, economic and cultural profiles of drug users, to measure their knowledge, behavior levels and attitudes about drug use and to understand the reasons that pushed them to substance use. In addition, understanding of the adequacy and benefit of the practices applied to drug users in the probation center, which is one of the many drug-fighting institutions of the state, is aimed to contribute to the relevant literature in the light of all findings. In the light of these objectives, a survey was conducted with 200 substance users at the Istanbul Probation Center. As a result of the analyzes performed, it was the first time that the majority of these people had single marital status, had low income, had low education level, had the most effective reason for their substance use, had problems with their families for the first time. It was concluded that they tried cannabis substance, used cannabis substance most, benefited from probation practices, did not find any missing direction in probation practices and experienced improvements in many areas in their lives after the probation decision was made. The findings were discussed in the results section in order to contribute to the related literature. Key Words: Drug Substance, Addiction, Substance Addiction, Probation.
