Özet (EN)

Problems in watertight closure of dura-mater after a surgical interventionmay lead to serious morbidity even mortality. Various attempts have beenproposed for a perfect dural closure however CSF leakage in the postoperativeperiod continues to be a serious problem. CSF leakage should be prevented for afast and healthy dural healing. This study aims to investigate the effects of a sponge ? TachoSil® ?containing human fibrinogen and thrombin in dural hemostasis, dural healing andCSF leakage. For this purpose we 24 Wistar male rats are divided into 4 differentgroups randomly. Each rat received a dural defect of 0.5 cm in diameter after afrontal craniectomy and CSF leakage was observed. Animals in groups I and IIIreceived no further treatment and their skin incision was closed in layer. TachoSil® was applied to the dural defects of the animals in groups II and IV. Animals inGroup I and II were sacrificed at the end of the 1st week while animals in GroupIII and IV were sacrificed at the end of the 6th week.At the end of the follow up period animals in the groups that did notreceive TachoSil® demonstrated significant CSF leakage while animals treatedwith TachoSil® were intact. Positive effects of TachoSil® in formation of neo-durawas proved.
