Abstract (EN)
In that study, we applied ischemia ? reperfusion model to rabbits and researched protective effect of gabapentin which neuroprotective effect was examined by diverse previous studies. The study has completed in Experimental Research Center of Gazi University Medical School by permission of Laboratory Animals Ethichal Board of Gazi University Rectorship. Ischemia ? reperfusion injury on spinal cord was evaluated with imitation of preference abdominal aorta cross ? clamping procedure in studies own resembling aim.Groups composed of control, iskemi, low dose and high dose treatment were divided into groups consisting of six rabbits. Although control group experienced with only abdominal surgery, subjects in other groups experienced with abdominal aorta cross ? clamping for 30 minutes and then reperfusion supplied. Gabapentin was mixed with % 0.9 NaCl and applied intraperitoneally of subject, 30 mg / kg for low dose group, and 200 mg / kg for high dose group. Neurologic examination was done at. 6th, 24th and 48th hours and subjects were sacrified at the end of 48. hour after tissue and blood sample had obtained.Biochemical examination of malondialdehyde (MDA), advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP), nitric oxide (NO), glutathione (GSH), and super oxide dismutase (SOD) levels in plasma and tissue sample, and histopathological examination of spinal cord were evaluated and compared between groups after statistical results had obtained.Taking all these points in to the consideration, protective effect of intraperitoneal apply of low and high dose gabapentin to ischemia ? reperfusion injury by infrarenal aortik oclussion model is exposed. There is no significant difference between two groups from the point of neuroprotective effect.
