Abstract (EN)

This study covers the area between Çanakkale and Ankara the cities themselves. Nine stations were specified within the area and climate characteristics of these stations were constructed based on the climate data obtained from various formula and methods. Accordingly, great climate differences are observed between the specified stations. For instance Subhumid Marmara Climate type is dominant in Çanakkale whereas Subarid Central Anatolia Climate type is dominant in Ankara. Average number of snowy days per year is 8.9 in Çanakkale, but increases as moving towards center and reaches up to 31.5 in Ankara. Number of days of snow remaining intact is 4.7 day for Çanakkale whereas this number is 31.5 days in Ankara. Therefore, snowing and time of snow remaining intact and thus the number of frosty days are observed to increase when moving towards the center. Furthermore, it is observed that rainfalls shift towards spring when moving towards Ankara. As a matter of fact, most of the rain falls during winter in Çanakkale (254.9 mm) whereas most of the rain falls during spring in Ankara (139 mm). Thus, the area may be considered to exhibit a complete transition character when climate characteristics of the area and therefore precipitation model and regime are observed.Key Words: Climate, precipitation model and regime, maritime climate, continental climate, Çanakkale-Ankara.
