Abstract (EN)

Developmental delay is a condition in which the child is unable to perform developmental tasks appropriate to the chronological age and it is important to follow up in early childhood. Aim of this study is investigating developmental parameters and motor proficiency before and after training in children 4-6 years old whose to Denver II Developmental Screening Test' s results abnormal or suspect. 21 children who aged 4-6 years which were continue to preschool, were included to the study. According to Denver II Developmental Screening Test results 11 children were included in study group and 10 children were included in control group. As pre-test and post-test, they were applied to Denver II Developmental Screening Test and Bruininks-Oseretsky Motor Proficiency Test when before and after training. The study group was given training for 12 weeks, once a week, 30-45 minutes. As training content; it was a play-based exercise and motor skill exercise track aimed at strenghtening the core and gross muscle groups. According to the results of the study; in the study group, progression in personal-social development, fine motor development, language development and gross motor development, and improved to performance of gross and fine motor performance (p<0.05). In the study group, the running speed, balance, strength, visual-motor control and arm speed-hand dexterity parameters increased (p<0.05), while there was no increase in the bilateral coordination, arm-hand coordination and response speed parameters (p>0.05). Balance was improved in favor of the post test in the control group (p<0.05). In conclusion, we think that developmental parameters, motor skills and motor performance should be eveluated routinely in preschool in early childhood. We also think that it is important to implement the exercise and intervention program planned by the physiotherapist in case of developmental delay or risk.
