Abstract (EN)

In this study, the certainty of the cogito that Descartes reached at the end of the suspicion process will be discussed and the reasons for the reshaping of metaphysics in this direction will be mentioned. The concept of God, which was formerly the first principle of metaphysics, becomes secondary in Descartes' metaphysics and is replaced by cogito as more reliable and trustworthy. The most important reason for it is Descartes' emphasis on human reason and his ideals of scientific inquiry. For the knowledge of sensible world will be possible through the certainty of the cogito and the assurance of God. This method which was created by Descartes to eliminate the limitations of the past started a new era in the history of philosophy. The main purpose of this study is to reveal the tension between the cogito and God by exposing the epistemological and ontological intertwining of the cogito-God relationship in Descartes philosophy. Keywords: Descartes, Cogito, God, Epistemology, Ontology
