Abstract (EN)

Dictionaries have been influential in facilitating communication between nations since the existence of languages and have been used as the primary source. In addition to learning a language, dictionaries have also reflected the culture and way of life of the nation using that language. Over time, lexicography has been preferred not only for interlingual communication but also for understanding literary texts and using professional terminology. The Turks' involvement with various tribes during their migration journey and their need to communicate led to the emergence of dictionaries for learning the languages of those tribes or teaching their own language to them. This started with Divanu Lügati't-Türk prepared by Kaşgarlı Mahmud and has continued to the present day. Tuhfetü's-Seniyye ile'l Hazreti'l-Haseniyye dictionary, also known as Deşîşî by Mehmed b. Mustafa b. Lutfullah, is one such dictionary prepared for this purpose. In addition to encompassing the linguistic assets of Persian and Turkish, the dictionary also provides information in many fields such as literature, medicine, botany, astronomy, zoology, mythology, ethnography, etc. Witness couplets provided after explanations also help the reader to better understand the word and ensure its better comprehension. From all these perspectives, it can be seen that the dictionary not only serves as a dictionary but also possesses the characteristics of an encyclopedia.
