Evaluation of support policies for livestock enterprises; a case study of Igdir province

This thesis study was carried out by using the face-to-face survey method with 397 randomly selected farmers who are doing livestock breeding and benefiting from animal husbandry support in the villages which are located in Iğdir city center and in its' districts, which are December, Karakoyunlu and Tuzluca. It was aimed to determine the opinions of producers about the livestock support being implemented and the expectations about agricultural policies by considering the descriptive characteristics of producers such as age, gender, education level and income level. 22,4% of the farmers received calf support, 22,2% received milk support and 18,7% received small bow ear support. 59,2% of the producers found that the amount of support they received was satisfactory. It was found that 39, 8% of the farmers spent their support for animal care and, 39,9% of them for increasing the number of animals, 20,9% of them for buying more sophisticated tools. 43,6% of farmers stated to have paid their debts with support and 6,5% of them for buying a car. 28,7% of farmers stated that they heard livestock support from relatives and neighbors, 22,2% from televisions, 20,7% from brochures and brochures, 10,8% from Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock (MFAL) website and 10,6% from MFAL staff. The research findings show that measures must be taken to ensure that producers are informed of their support in a timely manner. Also, impact analyzes of the supplements should be made annually. The identified disadvantaged aspects of the supports should be eliminated and their advantageous aspects should be strengthened. Precautions should be taken to ensure that the applications for support are simple and understandable.
