The synthesis of novel bromophenols incorporating diarylmethanone and diarylmethane skeleton

Because of the important biological activities of natural and synthetic bromophenols, in the present thesis the synthesis of a series novel bromophenols was carried out. In this context, substituted diaryl methanones were synthesized from the acylation reaction of substituted bromo benzenes with benzoic acids. The synthesized diaryl methanones were reduced with Et3SiH to give corresponding diaryl methanes. Diaryl methanones and diaryl methanes were converted into their thirteen bromophenol derivatives via O-demethylation with BBr3.
