Abstract (EN)

N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHC) are neutral compounds consisting of rings with different numbers of members, and since they are good σ donors, they have been used as ligands in complexes since 1968. Grubbs, the 2005 Nobel Prize winner, successfully synthesized the ruthenium-NHC complex in olefin metathesis, leading to the synthesis of numerous Ru-NHC complexes in organometallic chemistry in recent years. Each synthesized complex produces products with distinctive selectivity at high conversion rates in catalytic applications. The amide bond is undeniably one of the most crucial bonds in the field of chemistry. It is crucial for supporting life as it forms the peptide bonds found in proteins like enzymes. Additionally, it is a prevalent component in pharmaceutical compounds, agrochemicals, and natural products. Therefore, synthetic chemists are currently facing the challenge of developing amide synthesis methods that are both fast and provide high yields, while also having a high atom economy. Undoubtedly, the direct amidation of alcohols and amines plays a crucial role in the advancement of more environmentally friendly direct amide production reactions. Since the use of carbene complexes is limited in this field, the development of new catalysts is important. Thus, within the context of the thesis - 1,3-dialkilbenzimidazolium NHC precursors were prepared and their structure were elucidated by appropriate spectroscopic techniques. - By interacting benzmidazolium carbene precursors with [RuCl2(p-cymene)]2 in basic medium, the corresponding NHC-Ru complexes were synthesized and their structures were elucidated by appropriate spectroscopic methods. - The catalytic activities of the synthesized Ru-NHC complexes in the amide formation reaction were investigated.
