Algorithmic recommendation systems have become a topic of interest in social sciences as they have become one of the new actors of the cultural ecosystem with the increase in digital content. The aim of this study is to understand the relationship between algorithmic recommendation systems used in Spotify and music production and consumption habits.In this research, which was designed as a case study, data were collected using semi-structured interview technique with a total of 20 participants consisting professional musicians and students of Akdeniz University Faculty of Fine Arts undergraduate program in the Spring semester of 2022-2023. Participants were selected through purposive sampling method. The data were grouped into categories and themes through one-to-one coded content analysis.As a result of the research, it was observed that Spotify recommendation systems interact with people in music production, consumption and performance processes. The opportunities and negativities are described in detail. The results and discussions led to the concept of Algorithmic Challenge. Keywords: Recommendation System, Spotify, Digital Music Culture
