Özet (EN)
Digitization has both positive and negative effects on parents and children. The current study focused on the impact of digitalization on the value of the child. The aim of the study is to investigate whether the values attributed to the child by the parents and the motivations of the parents to share their children on social media are affected by the phenomenon of being a parent, religiousness and education variables. Questionnaire technique, which is a quantitative data collection method, was used in the study and the data were analyzed with SPSS. Within the scope of the study, the value that parents attribute to the child was measured with Kağıtçıbaşı's The Value of the Child (2017) scale, and the motivation underlying social media posts was measured by the questions prepared by Duygulu (2019). As a result of the analysis of the data with the one-way Anova test, it was found that the phenomenon of being a parent, which is a result of digitalization, does not have a significant effect on the psychological value of the child (p>0.05). It was determined that fathers without phenomena had the highest tendency to give their children economic value (M= 1.87, SD=0.91) and social value (M=2.94, SD=0.93). It was concluded that the tendency of the phenomenon mothers to give the child economic value (M=1.33, SD=0.60) and social value (M=2.02, SD=0.74) was the lowest. The rate of not sharing images of their children on social media, taking into account the privacy of children, is high in non-phenomenal fathers (80%) and non-phenomenal mothers (56%); The rate of not sharing due to the risk of abuse was found to be the highest in the non-phenomenological mothers group (28%) and in the pheno-menal mothers group (7.7%). Phenomenal fathers (50%) and phenomenal mothers (46.2%) observed the child's will at a higher rate. It was determined that the item that measures the tendency of social media to commodify the child was most likely to be chosen by non-phenomenal fathers (28.6%) and non-phenomenal mothers (16.2%). While the level of religiosity did not affect the value attributed to the child (p>0.05); use of social media and the reason for not sharing images about children (p<0.05). It was concluded that there is a significant relationship between education level and gi-ving economic and social value to the child (p<0.05). It was concluded that the parents with high school or below education level gave the child economic value (M=1.96, SD=0.92) and social value (M=2.78, SD=1.01) at the highest rate.
