Determination of the performance of strawberry (Fragaria vesca L.) in vertical gardens

This study, which was carried out in Research and Application area of Bingol University, in 2019, and was carried out to investigate the edible vertical garden possibilities of vertical gardens other than ornamental plants. In the study whether Kabarla strawberry variety was used as a trial material or not. Four vestor (east, west, north and south) walls were used in the experiment. In the experiment, plant width, height, number of stems and stolon numbers of the morphological features were examined. Among the fruit features; fruit weight, fruit maximum-minimum width, fruit size, soluble solids, pH, flesh firmness and titratable acid amounts were determined. As a result of the study, in the south direction of the highest values in terms of plant height, plant length and plant number; The number of stolons was also detected in the plants in the west direction. Fruit weight, fruit size, maximum and minimum fruit sizes were obtained from plants facing north of fruit firmness in north and south directions. It was determined that the amount of water soluble dry matter was in the west direction, and the titratable acid and ph values were in the east direction. As a result of the study; In Bingol climate, the usability of Kabarla strawberry variety in vertical gardens was determined, and with the new and researches that could be done later, economic analyzes of this system were also made and results that could lead to the creation of a new application area were obtained.
