Özet (EN)
The aim of this study is to analyse Copernicus in astronomy and to find and discuss his traces in astronomy in certain periods. Religion and science are concepts that have managed to gain a place within the boundaries of thought in human history. Namely, mankind has needed to know in order to believe. Therefore, a reconciliation between various religious ideas and the world of objects has been tried to be achieved. With the Sun-centred universe system put forward by Copernicus (D 1473-Ö 1543), a new understanding that would form the basis of modern sciences came to the agenda with the emergence of a rationalist attitude in the understanding of science. Being a priest, his dominance over religion is clear. With the dilemma between religion and science, Copernicus approached the subject critically. In this study, after a historical analysis of the events that occurred in certain periods, it will be examined how Copernicus had the questioning and critical ability in the Copernican revolution and how he revealed his revolution in the separation between religion and science. By explaining the important turning points in the revolution between religion and science in the period, it will be discussed what kind of an idea Copernicus came to his mind while establishing his system, how his religious personality offered him an idea at the point of reality, the effect of the ideas of the church teaching on the call of God on Copernicus, why he took the Sun and put it in the centre, and what was the main factor in taking the final step to make this transformation. With this study, it may be possible to inspire young generations by arousing interest in how the thinking was in the past universe models, the religious structure and culture of the period, especially how the information used for vital purposes gained more scientific meanings over time. KEYWORDS: Truth, Planet, Revolution, Science, Religion, Earth-Centred Universe, Sun-Centred.
