Abstract (EN)
Obedience is an essential phenomenon for both individuals and society as well as family and state. It is also an essential term to be understood and applied correctly in Islam which contains rules and messages that concern people's lives. The question of 'to whom, how, and to what extent should one obey' affects a person's peace and tranquility, therefore, is a fundamental topic in religion. Proper obedience is important not just for life on earth but also for the afterlife. This study examines the obedience to the God, to the prophet, to those in authority (ulu-l-amr), to parents, to spouse, and to the devil. It aims to investigate the topic in the context of religious education using a theoretical approach that is based on the verses in the Holy Quran. First of the three chapters of this study focuses on the conceptual framework of the term 'obedience' and terms that are near-synonymous to it. The second chapter deals with types of obedience, the obedience culture and its elements, factors that ease or obstruct the obedience, the validity conditions of the obedience, and the earthly and aethereal results of the obedience. The third chapter discusses the relevance of obedience with religious education in regard to the terms freewill, liberty, responsibility, and ethics. This study was established upon the hypothesis that true obedience could be possible with unity in belief and action. The revelations and the prophet provide a balance for the theory and practice and illuminate the road to peace and tranquility. This study followed a Quran-based approach in its theoretical research, data accumulation, data association, and classification of knowledge. Keywords: Obedience, Faith, Good Deed, Freewill, Liberty, Responsibility
