The relationship between religiosity, body image and self-esteem: A quantitative research in the context of psychology of religion

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between religiosity, body image and self-esteem. In this study, additionally, the relationship between these main variables and some other sub-variables (demographic and psycho-social) is searched. Correlational survey model was used in this study and 671 individuals over the age of 16 were included. In this study, the data is collected via Demographic Information Form, Scale of Allah Centeredness, Body Appreciation Scale and The Self Esteem Rating Scale-Short Form. As a result, we found significant positive correlation between religiosity and body image, religiosity and self-esteem and finally body image and self-esteem. Additionally, significant relationships were found between variables of demographic & psycho-social and religiosity, body image, self-esteem.
