Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine the attitudes of religiosity and spirituality through the preferences of young adult women whether to cover their heads or not. Qualitative research method was used as a method in the study. In the research prepared in the case design, one of the purposive sampling types criteria sampling, extreme/contrary situation sampling, and snowball sampling methods were used. The study group consisted of women (n=20) who decided to use the headscarf (n=10) and to stop using it (n=10). The educational background of the participants is at undergraduate and higher level, and their age range is between 20-42. The data were collected in August and March of 2018-2019. The obtained data were analyzed by descriptive analysis method. From the findings of the research, it was seen that the participants saw spirituality as necessary for religious life and differed on their position when discussed with religiosity. Besides, in some participants the conflicts between the definition of religiosity and the definition that society attributes to the concept of religiosity have been observed to create a distinction between the concept of spirituality and the concept of religiosity.
