Examination of religious childrend's books in terms of religious education: Examples of "Dinimi Öğreniyorum Amentü Serisi" and "Hikayelerle 365 Gün İman Esasları"

In this thesis, selected examples of religious children's literature are examined in terms of content, form, style and field education. These works are "Dinimi Öğreniyorum Amentü Serisi" (Yaşar Kandemir, Ahirete İnanıyorum, İstanbul, Damla Yayınevi) and "Hikâyelerle 365 Gün İman Esasları" (Ali Karaçam, Rabia Kılıçkaya, Hikâyelerle 365 Gün İman Esasları, 20. bs., İstanbul, Nesil Yayınları). Firstly, within the scope of research, the place and importance of religious education in childhood were investigated; in this period, the issues to be considered while performing religious education were examined. As it is subject of the books we have examined, the issues to be considered in the teachings of "the Principle of Faith" have beed determined. After that, the basic features of the story books were investigated. The books identified as examples are evaluated in the light of this information. In the research process various negativities have been identified. For example, it can be mentioned that there is not enough research about the preparation of religious books prepared for children; and there is not enough attention to criticism of children's literature; and in the selected works in this research there are narratives that contradict with the information in the basic sources; and finally the developmental period characteristics of the child are not considered sufficiently. In our study, which we realized in order to contribute to the field by recognizing this deficiency, we sought answers to the question "What are the features to be found in the story books that appeal to childhood?" We tried to evaluate the story books we examined by taking advantage of the results we reached.
