Abstract (EN)

In this study, the works of the ancient Greek period author Diogenes and the Islamic thinker Şehrezuri were compared. Although Diogenes and Şehrezuri lived in different times and cultures, they came to the fore as the leading names of their time. The important features of the works are explained through ten different philosophers. These philosophers can be listed as follows; Solon, Anaxagoras, Soctates, Plato, Aristotle, Theophrastos, Pythagoras, Empodekles, Zeno, Democritus. Within the scope of this study, the family life, educational life, views and most importantly, the works of ten thinkers are included. While creating his work, Diogenes was in a philological researcher attitude, conveyed the information he received about the Ancient Greek philosophers without distinguishing them as important or unimportant, without filtering them critically, and provided many interesting information about the lives of philosophers to reach our day. Shahrezuri, on the other hand, in his work, presented some criticisms of the views of philosophers that contradicted the Islamic belief, and in general, he transformed the philosophers into a Muslim character with an Islamic point of view. Comparing the works of Diogenes and Şehrezuri shows the universal characteristics and diversity of philosophical thought that arose in different periods and cultures. For this reason, this study will be an important resource for readers who want to understand better the thoughts of Diogenes and Şehrezuri and who want to bring a new perspective to our philosophical history thought.
