Abstract (EN)

Constipation is one of the most Gastrointestinal Disorder which affects the society. Anal dyssinergia is the cause of %20 of functional constipation. Altough biofeedback is an effective option for the treatment of anal dyssinergia, it is not known the effect of the same treatment for life quality. The aim of the sudy was to find the effectivenes of biofeedback treatment for the constipation patients with anal dyssinegia. Before and after the treatment SF-36 parameters was measured for all of the patients. We recruited 32 subjects with chronic constipation who had fulfilled Rome III criteria for functional constipation. In addition, all subjects fullfilled the following criteria for dyssinergic defecation; they showed a dyssinergic pattern of defecation during attempted defecation and either had prolonged difficulty with expelling balloon. There were 12 male and 20 female subjects with a median age of 43 + 16 (range 18-72). All of the patients were treated with biofeedback exercises. The increase of physical functioning, physical role, bodily pain, general health, vitality, social functioning, emotional role and mental health score were in order 11,9±2,7, 12,9±3,2, 10,4±3,8, 10,7±3,9, 10,5±4,3, 10,9±5,3, 14,6± 3,7 and 10,6±3,5 point . There were statistic significant differences between the pretreatment and one month post treatment Quality of Life values . There were also a significant improvement of straining effort, digital maneuver use and weekly defecation number. We performed correlation analysis to compare the change of life quality parameters and defecation behaviors. We found a reverse correlation between vitality and digital maneuver habit. There were also a negative correlation between age and physical rol.In conclusion, we would like to emphasise that biofeedback treatment is an effective treatment for anal dyssinergia. After treatment of such patient we observe a significant improvement of mental and physically quality of life and defecation habits. We think that such studies could performed with a wide range of population again. Such studies can include a first, third month and 1 year measurement of quality of life after biofeedback treatment
