Divan of Divane Rüşdi (examination-critical text-dictionary)

Divane Rüşdi Efendi, one of the 17th century Divan poets. There is not much information about his life. Rüşdi was born and died in Istanbul. The poet, understood to have received a good education from his poems, worked as an assistant and professor after his education in the madrasa. However, he was dismissed from his post a while after he became a professor. For this reason, Rüşdi Efendi lost his mental faculties and spent the rest of his life in Sivasizadeler Dervish Lodge in Istanbul. After that, the poet was known as "Divane Rüşdi Efendi". As far as we understand from his poems, Rüşdi, who attended the assemblies of friends and poets at the beginning, had great problems after his illness. Rüşdi, who was away from these assemblies and his surroundings due to the mental illness he experienced, passed away in Sivasizadeler Dervish Lodge and was buried in its graveyard. Divane Rüşdi Efendi's only work is his Divan. Divan; It consists of odes, mesnevis, gazelles, kıt'as and rubais. According to what is understood from his poems, he is a personality that was influenced by some prominent poets in his era. During his lifetime, he wrote poems such as Nabi and Naili, as well as some other poets whose pseudonym was mentioned in Divan. Similar poems of Rüşdi hold a great sum in his Divan. The poet did not present a poem to any state elders. Almost all of the odes in the Divan consist of poems written in the type of naat, mawlid and miraciye about Muhammet. However, Divane Rüşdi Efendi is a ghazals poet. There are poems in his ghazals where he can capture the beauty of utterance. From time to time, the poet carried his sufferings and grievances to the content of such poems.
