Özet (EN)
This study was carried out with a total of 200 (Males: 101; Females: 99) volunteer subjects, to determine the effect of sleep quality on diet quality and anthropometric measurements admitted to Yenişehir District Community Health Center in Diyarbakir Province. Demographic characteristics, physical activity levels, and 24-hour dietary recalls were determined. Sleep quality was evaluated with Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), depression with Beck Depression Scale (BDS), diet quality with Healthy Eating Index (HEI-2010) and Diet Quality Index (DQI). Anthropometric parameters were measured, body composition was determined, body mass index (BMI), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) were calculated. Mean age of the participants was 35.3±10.30 years. Mean (±SD) BMI and WC were 26.4±5.62 kg/m2 and 93.4±14.78 cm for males and 27.2±6.72 kg/m2 and 90.4±12.99 cm for females. Relationship between BMI, percentage and amount of body fat, fat free mass, WC, HC and duration of sleep were found statistically significant (p<0.001). Out of total, 17.0% of the subjects (Males: 16.8%; Females: 17.2%) had poor ((≥5) PSQI score and mean score was (±S) 8.24±3.47. Minimal depression level was found using BDS in 44,6% of males and 34.3% of females and mean (±S) BDS score was 14.7± 9.77 (Males:13,9±9,12; Females:15,8±9,79). Relationship between PSQI and BDS scores were statistically significant (p<0,001). Good and bad PSQI scores of subjects had HEI scores 82.4±12.3 and 44,9±18,35, respectively (p<0,001) and DQI scores 76,7±10,72 and 45,5±13,81, respectively (p<0,001). It could be concluded that sleep quality and nutritional status of the subjects should be assesses by dietitians and education programs should be implemented for the prevention of nutrition and health problems. Key Words: Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Beck Depression Scale, Body Mass Index, Healthy Eating Index, Diet Quality Index
