Abstract (EN)
This study focuses on the geometric and aerodynamic performance analysis of girdap generators designed based on biomimetic approaches. Designs inspired by nature, particularly aquatic organisms, were examined in low Reynolds number flow regimes, specifically in the context of Laminar Separation Bubble (LSB) formation. In this regard, innovative girdap generators inspired by biological structures, such as tuna fins, offer significant contributions to enhancing aerodynamic performance and geometric optimization processes. The effects of these designs' geometric properties, particularly on LSB formation and control, were analyzed in detail and compared with existing literature. In the study, wind tunnel experiments involved force measurements, Constant Temperature Anemometry (CTA), and smoke and oil flow visualization techniques. These methods played a critical role in better understanding girdap formation mechanisms, LSB control, flow separations, and achieving low drag and high lift performance. Notably, designs inspired by tuna fins show promise in reducing the effects of LSB on the flow and ensuring a stable flow structure. In conclusion, this study emphasizes the contributions of biomimetic inspirations to aerodynamic designs and offers innovative approaches to optimize the performance of girdap generators in low Reynolds numbers. This research aims to make a significant contribution to the existing body of literature and provide a new perspective on aerodynamic design processes supported by natural structures.
