Abstract (EN)

Erzurum has many features due to its historical importance. One of these features is the publication of Envar-ı Şarkiyye, the first private Turkish newspaper of the Turkish Press History in Erzurum. After the publication of this newspaper, private Turkish newspapers began to be published in many Ottoman cities, especially in İstanbul, and it was aimed to raise awareness of the Turkish people. Doğu newspaper is one of the newspapers published by the state in the Republican period for this purpose. The newspaper, which is the Project of the Third General Inspector Hasan Tahsin Uzer, was published in Erzurum based Doğu Press in 1937-1938 and a total of 288 issues were printed. Adopting many important missions such as announcing the investments made in the Third General Inspectorate Region to the public and informing the people living in the Inspectorate region about the World, the newspaper has a structure equivalent to İstanbul newspapers with its writer staff and printing quality. Although many issues are discussed in the Doğu newspaper, one of the issues that draw attention in this regard is women. In the newspaper, many issues related to women were examined, and explanatory information was given in various fields,especially religion and education. Many articles have been published in order to ensure the loyalty of Turkish women to the Republic of Turkey. Doğu newspaper tried to fulfill its task in all areas of politica and social life.
