Abstract (EN)

The research was conducted as a randomized controlled study to examine the effect of the training provided according to the Travelbee human-to-human relations model on fear of childbirth, prenatal attachment and anxiety in pregnant women with fear of childbirth. The sample of the study was determined with G power. The study was completed with 32 pregnant women in the experimental group and 30 pregnant women in the control group. Data was collected between June 2023 and August 2023. Sociodemographic Data Collection Form, Wijma Birth Expectation/Experience Scale version A, Prenatal Attachment Inventory and Beck Anxiety Scale were used in data collection. Pregnant women were assigned to experimental control groups by stratified randomization method. Pregnant women in the experimental group were given eight sessions of childbirth preparation training according to the Travelbee theory of human-to-human relations. The control group continued their routine follow-up. Descriptive statistics, chi-square test, t-test in dependent and independent groups, correlation and regression analyzes were used to analyze the data. There was no statistical difference between the mean scores of both the W-DEQ A scale and the Beck anxiety scale in the first test data of the experimental and control groups (p>0.05). It was observed that the score of the experimental group decreased significantly after the training (p<0.001). In the first test data of the pregnant women, the prenatal attachment inventory was statistically insignificant in both groups (p>0.05) and there was a significant increase in the experimental group after the training (p<0.001). As a result, it was determined that the childbirth preparation training prepared according to the Travelbee theory of human-to-human relations reduced the fear and anxiety of pregnant women and increased the level of prenatal attachment. It is recommended that the childbirth preparation training prepared according to the Travelbee human-to-human relations theory be applied to pregnant women.
