Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of prenatal education on the perceived stress level of pregnant women. The study group of the research consisted of 80 pregnant women, 40 of whom were in the experimental group and 40 of them were in the control group, who applied to Osmaniye State Hospital in the prenatal period. In the experimental study, the General Information Form was used to collect the demographic information of the individuals and the Perceived Stress Scale was used to measure the perceived stress levels of the pregnant women. While prenatal education was applied to the pregnant women in the experimental group, no education program was applied to the pregnant women in the control group. Data analysis was performed with SPSS 22. As a result of the research, it was determined that prenatal education positively affects the perceived stress level of pregnant women. In other words, it can be said that the stress of pregnant women who participate in exercises in prenatal education and gain knowledge about birth through applied training is reduced. It is recommended to disseminate prenatal education in institutional enterprises such as hospitals, to increase the training of trainers and to ensure the participation of pregnant women in training courses in this area, as well as to establish training standards and take necessary initiatives.
