Determination of sexual function and dyspareunia in postpartum women

Özet (EN)

Objective: This study is planned for sexual function and having dyspareunia in postpartum women. Method: Study is done between September 2019 and January 2020 in number 35 and number 7 Family Health Centers which situate in Antalya provinces Kepez town. 200 women who are within the first year of postpartum and have a vaginal birth form research universe. Personal ınformation form and Carol Postpartum Sexual Function and Dyspareunia Assessment Scale is used as data collection tool. Scales are applied with face to face method. Number, percent, arithmetic mean, Confinmatory Factor Analysis, Explanatory Factor Analysis, Single Factor Analysis of Variance, Kruskal-Wallis H Test, Mann-Whitney U Test, T- Test or ındependent groups are used in the analysis of data. Results: 63.5 percent of women have moderate libido disorders, 72 percent of don't have a lubrication disorder is determined in Carol Postpartum Sexual Function and Dyspareunia Assessment Scale sexual activity readiness subscale. When the vulva is touched, 67.5 percent of women have no discomfort in the area of pain/moderate discomfort or pain, during penetration 61.5 percent of women have no discomfort in the area of pain/ moderate discomfort or pain, during vaginal intercourse 61 percent of women have no discomfort in the area of pain/ moderate discomfort or pain, after vaginal intercourse 67.5 percent of women have no discomfort or pain/ moderate discomfort is determined. Additionally postpartum sexual function and dyspareunia is determined to be related with status of women and episiotomy status applied in previous births. Conclusion: In the result of study, lubrication disorder is undetected in the field of preparation for sexual intercourse, in postpartum women but moderate libido disorder is detected. When the vulva is touched, during penetration, during sexual intercourse and after sexual intercourse is detected moderate discomfort and pain. Women's sexual life should be evaluated in postpartum fallow follow-ups, suitable treatment and care should be provided. Key words: Postpartum period, sexual function, dyspareunia, nursing
