Özet (EN)

In this thesis, modeling of plain weave, twin weave and satin weave composites using finite element methods is studied. Following the introduction and literature review, in modeling, material, methods and simulation results are explained. The models with different sizes and with different weave styles are created, and in-plane and out-of plane properties are obtained by finite element analysis. In this thesis, a finite element program Abaqus is used for modelling. By using material properties of fiber and resin, the models are analyzed for their mechanical performance. Stretch and bending simulations are carried out, and the results of which are compared. Defining the elastic module, Poisson ratio and material?s curvature value of the models, some values in Abaqus are transfered to Excel file. Then , these values are analysed graphically and elastic module, Poisson ratio and material?s curvature value are found. Results are analyzed by compairing all the models. With reference to this results, the strength and stiffnesses of the composite models are defined.Overall , it is concluded that the finite element method, which provides easy of modeling and analysis testing on models and analyzing the test results have more advantages than those of direct application of the classical lamination theory .
